Birthday Time

We recently got to celebrate Kent's birthday.

Early in the morning I heard Handsome up and moving around.  I went out to investigate, telling him that he had lost his Privilege Pass for getting up before dad and I were.  He acknowledged that he was giving it up (a big deal!!), but wanted to get up early to do a surprise for Daddy's Birthday.  What was the surprise?  He set the table for us for breakfast.  What a sweet boy!  I had to follow our rules, and he knew he wouldn't earn the privilege pass, but said it was worth it.  And we talked about sacrificing a good thing for a better thing.

Handsome also drew pictures for Daddy.  He drew a heart and wrote I love you, and on another paper wrote Happy Birthday.  Gorgeous also drew a picture for Daddy.

So our morning started with a birthday surprise and birthday notes and hugs for Daddy!

Then daddy had to go help with cutting down trees from the big storm.  While he was gone we made a cake for him.  And since daddy loves marshmallows, and loves to play Lego's with Handsome, we made him a Lego cake that had marshmallows on the top. :)  He liked it.

We had a birthday dinner and then cake.  The kids had previously helped me pick out a birthday card for dad, and we all signed our names to it.  But they still insisted on getting him a gift.  Weeks in advance Handsome had made a gift for daddy and had it hidden.  After the card, Handsome ran to get his gift.  I had to take a video of it so you can hear Handsome's explanation of the present.  It's priceless.

When Gorgeous realized that Handsome had a present for Daddy she was dismayed that she didn't have anything for him.  Again I tried to explain that she helped me pick out the card.  But that didn't work.  Quickly, she jumped up and ran to the toy room, returning with her own favorite purple Hippo.  It was so sweet that she would give up one of her favorite toys as a gift to her daddy.

And then it was cake time.  All enjoyed some (except for Adorable, I'm cruel and didn't let him have any, I gave him cereal instead).

And the birthday boy, himself.  Happy Birthday, we love you Daddy!

That is so adorable--the kids are really getting into this gifting in a precious sort of way!
