A Reason to Celebrate!

Ever since I was a teenager and learned that Christ's birthday was really April 6th. I always thought it would be so cool to have Christmas in April. Of course I didn't want to give up December too, so I figured 2 times a year, GREAT! My parents never really went along with it, wonder why? :)

So I realized after Conference that April 6th was close. So I told Handsome that it was Christ's birthday coming up. (I had told him in December that we celebrated Christ's birthday, but it was not his actual birthday). Handsome was so excited that he wanted to go to Christ's birthday party and eat cake with him. So last minute, I decided he was right, we should do something.

So we decided to go to Christ's house and wish him a Happy Birthday. I love the faith of little ones. Michael kept saying how excited he was to see Christ, and to see the nail prints in his hands (he really did listen during the Easter lesson!).

We went to the Seattle temple, touched the walls of the temple, walked through the gardens (Handsome's favorite part, I told him it represented the different gardens, the sacred grove, and garden of Gethsemane) He kept wanting to go back and told everyone we saw that he was going to the garden of Gethsemane again. We went through it 3 times! Then saw the fountain, the angel, read the signs, and saw the different statues.

It was a fun last minute trip (and those that know me, I hardly ever do last minute things!) We were going to do a birthday cake too, but I was worn out from the trip (still struggling with a cold, not fun!). So the cake will be today.

I liked it, I think this will have to be a family tradition!

Birthday Party Time

Ok, so I know I am late. Handsome has his birthday in March. We decided to do an extended family party. (it was my practice run, to see if I will be up to a friends party next year)

I made cupcakes, and wanted Cars pictures to top it. Since I couldn't find any at the stores, I just printed them off and put them on toothpicks. I think it worked. :)

I had games that related to the different Cars characters. We started with Mater's licence plate design. I just made some licence plates in publisher with the kids initials and birthdays (for letters and numbers) then they colored a design on them.
Next we did Filmore's Red Light Green Light. Each kid got a turn being the light.
Then Lightnings Fast cars, as they drove cars through the paint and on to paper.

We also did Luigi's tire toss (made a fake tire, and they had to throw and Cars ball into the tire)

Also, Ramone's Sweet Cars, where they had to build/design cars out of candy. After each competition, the kid that "won" the round got a Piston Cup. Below is Handsome's car he designed.

Then cake and presents.

Handsome was so thankful for everything, and loved all the presents. I had to include this picture. Aunt Beth and Family gave him Cars games, and a Big bottle of bubbles (he loves bubbles) but as he pulled it out he said excitedly "Oh, cool a gas can!" He truly was so excited to have his very own gas can. Then I told him it was bubbles and he was cool with that too. :)
In the end I think it was a success, but I don't know if I am up to a friends party. I may just do one in a place that they can all just run around and play. :) It was a LOT of planning, and trying to keep everyone going.
