Squeezing in the Last of Summer

We have been busy these last few days.  FINALLY the weather is nice, and we are trying to enjoy every bit of it.  We are letting the little ones (not the babe) stay up late each day, to play with Daddy after dinner.  The weather is great, the sun is still up, and hey, they all love it!  Playing ball with dad in the backyard is the best! :)

We will continue to enjoy every bit of summer we can.  Many blogs to come about all the fun we are having and going to have. :)

Glad Five-Year-Olds Can't Vote

The other day I was watching Fox News and Handsome saw a clip where the Govenor of Texas was giving a speech about unemployment and Obama not doing his job in getting America back to work.

Handsome: "Is that true?"

Me: "What true?"

Handsome: "What that guy is saying."

Me: "Some people blame Obama because lots of Daddy's don't have work right now."

(We have been struggling with unemployment for the last few years.)

I could see Handsome thinking quite hard about this.

Handsome:  "I think I like Obama."

Me: "Why?"

Handsome: "Because with the Dads not working they can stay home and play with their kids more!"

I had to admit that from his point of view, I would agree, more time to play with Dad sounded great.  And actually our kids have enjoyed that aspect of Kent being home a lot more.  There has been more soccer and catch, more bike rides, more cuddles, and more stories read from Daddy.

Thank You Nursery Teachers

Gorgious decided to sing this song the other day.  I had never taught her the song, and maybe remember singing it once a library time.  I asked where she learned it.  Nursery!  So thank you to the Nursery Teachers and Music Leader.  Of course they teacher her even more important things about Jesus and the gospel.  So thank you, thank you for all the time and energy you put into teaching my little one.

And while I'm at it, thank you to all of Handsome's teachers.  One FHE we were going to teach the first vision.  We thought it would be all new since we had not covered it yet, but of course Handsome knew it all.  Asked who taught him.  His primary teacher, of course! :)

Thank you, Thank you all the wonderful teachers who teach my children!

Handsome's Surprise

One morming I woke to Handsome greeting me and saying he had a surprise for me.  I had to close my eyes and follow him into the toy room.  His surprise?  He had striaghtened up all the little kid board books and fabric books!  What a sweetheart!  Usually they lay on the bottom two shelves in piles so babies can get to them, and I never cared if they were standing up straight like the other books.  But Handsome took the time to tidy up the books.  I loved it.  What a helpful boy!

precious moments to remember

The best thing; to lay in bed next to Adorable early in the morning and listen as he quietly babbles to me.  I can only imagine what he is trying to tell me.

Hair

I can't believe we are at this stage already!  Handsome has decided that he has to "style" his hair a certain way.  He brushes the front of his hair over to the side.  He started doing it and looking in the mirror.

I asked him what he was doing?
"Styling my hair of course" was his response.
"Why?" I asked,
"Because it's cool."
"Where did you get the idea?"
His response, "I just thought of it."

Something that just made us laugh.

Then on Sunday, as we were going into the church building.  He saw a girl friend of his, said hi, and then turned around and fixed his hair.  I couldn't help but chuckle inwardly.  Where did this come from?  Is he old enough to care about how his hair looks? especially in front of girls?

Confession

I never iron.  I know, terrible isn't it!  I don't worry about ironing any of the kids clothes, I don't need any of my clothes ironed, and Kent's? well.... his church shirt is usually thrown into the dryer before church.  Every once in a blue moon, Kent irons his shirt.  But yes, I don't iron,... o.k. unless I am sewing. :)

On the Bright Side

So there seems to always be a lot of unfolded laundry in my living room.  But on the bright side, if the kids need clothes while Adorable is asleep in their room, I can always find what I need in the piles of laundry in the living room. :)

A child's prayer

Yesturday Handsome said the breakfast prayer.  This time after blessing the food he also blessed the "mommy milk" for Adorable that it would be healthy for him too.  I would have never thought of it.  Give it to a child to think of those things.  What a thoughtful little boy.

Glimpses of Our Life

This little boy is getting bigger.

The kids like it when Adorable is in his jumper, and in this position, so they can pretend he is driving a car.  And they take turns "just barely jumping out of the way" as he goes cruising.

And a picture.  I am so proud of my kids who love to draw pictures all the time.  The above is Handsome's artwork of his favorite toy, Buzz Lightyear of course.  But I also get pictures of Handsome trying to calm down Adorable, playing soccer, etc.  I love it.  And Gorgeous is in the abstract picture phase.  To their mom they are all great works of art. :)

It's a Crying Shame

I know we're terrible parents... but sometimes we just can't help laughing at the fits our kids throw.

When Gorgeous throws a fit we send her to her room, telling her she is free to come out when she is calmed down.  She will go in there and scream, then immediately open the door and say she is calm.  Then without a word from us she will slam the door and scream some more.  Sometimes we give her a look, but most times we don't do anything!  This happens 4 to 5 times before she stays in there for a while, resting on her bed, and comes back out a happy girl.  I try to capture it on film, but it just isn't the same when she knows she is on camera.  But you get the gist.  Kent and I have to work hard on keeping a straight face and not laughing through all her fit throwing.

Just Another Brag Moment

So I can't help it, I'm just a proud mama. :)
