Halloween for School

Being home schooled, my kids do miss out on the Halloween parties and parades, but we did have fun celebrating it in our own way.

I have learned that Halloween is great for art.

First, we did a drawing lesson on overlapping.  Handsome choose a book to use for inspiration in his overlapping.

Next we decorated pumpkins.

We used cereal to make pumpkins on paper.

And my personal favorite.  I had the kids count out their candy and group them in tens.  Then I told them to sort their candy any way they choose, and they had to graph it.  It was a fun way to get so much math in.

And of course there was lots and lots of Halloween book reading!

And I have to show off the fun costumes they choose.
Gorgeous was again our Princess, Sleeping Beauty this time.

Handsome was planning to be Darth Vader.  But when we learned that he couldn't wear a mask to our church Trunk or Treat, he switched to Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi.

And Adorable was our "Chunky Monkey" again.  I can't believe the same costume that fit him last year, fit him again. :)
