Turning Old Into New

It feels so good to actually create something. I love it, and to be able to make it out of something you LOVED so much already, is even better! So I had this skirt all through high school and college that I absolutely loved. It was my favorite, but I loved it so much that after I married Kent the "love" showed. I could no longer wear it, but couldn't think to part with it either. So all these years I have held onto it in my pile of fabrics. Well, I just had a chance to make some new things out of my favorite skirt. I made a messenger style bag for Michael that he uses for his scriptures, I loved being able to use a back pocket from the skirt in the bag.

Then I was able to make these adorable new slippers for Emma. I had made a previous pair, but she was growing out of them and needed new ones. So I loved using my skirt again for these shoes.

Then I did some more creating, making more leggings out of women's knee high socks. I found a bunch on sale at Wal-mart, and I know Emma doesn't really "need" them, but I couldn't help myself, they were so cheap and so easy to make!

I love being able to make new things, I have many projects in the works now that Michael's birthday is the next big holiday in our house. I'll let you know how they turn out. And I'm amazed at how much material I am finding in my own "used clothes" stash and good will.

Sweet Surprise

Monday morning I started to wake as I heard Michael's voice and then heard Kent close the bedroom door. Later I vagily remember hearing the dishes get done, and as I woke up 2 hours later the dishwasher was going, the kitchen was clean and the kids were feed and dressed. What a sweet surprise to be able to sleep in 2 extra hours and awake to find everything done! I have a wonderful husband. :) It was nice to have him home for President's day, I love days that Kent has off!

Superheroes

One gift for Christmas was an old suitcase full of random dress up things. At the time it didn't get much attention, but now Michael calls it his treasure box, and pulls it out everyday to dress up as a superhero! He loves the idea of being a superhero, and having his cousins over just solidified the idea as all the boys dressed up as superheroes and fought to save us all. Here's Michael with one of his cousins, having a blast.
