"Take a Picture"

Gorgeous loves to have me take a picture of her.  OK, well, Handsome does too.  They both love to pose... but Gorgeous is the one who figured out that if she poses with Adorable, I'm more likely to take the picture. :)  So, often throughout a day she will sit by him, or pull him to her and declare that I should take a picture.  And Adorable just goes along with it.  And that is how the above picture (along with many others) came about.

He's a Walking!

Adorable is now walking.  It's a tie whether he can get to a place faster by walking or crawling, at times I can see him weigh it in his mind and decided on a method to go.  He LOVES to take my hand and lead me on a walk around the house.  The only down side is the drawers he is getting into... not so much into stuff, but now has a problem of getting his fingers stuck in drawers.

Other cute things he is doing.  He loves to bob his head and sway to music, especially music with a good strong beat.

He will almost always laugh if you say "boo" and will continue laughing harder and harder the more you do it.  Sometimes when he is not in the mode, he'll do a fake laugh for you when you say "boo".

He LOVES Gorgeous' Lego Princesses.  Gorgeous has three big Lego Cinderella's that he LOVES to carry around and chew on.  I prefer to think of it as him "saving" or "rescuing" the princesses. ;)

And he is such a mommas boy... I can't help it... I LOVE it.  I love to slowly open the bedroom door and watch his face light up when he realizes that it is me behind it.  I love that when I walk in the door he comes right to me and wants to be held.  I love my little boy!

Haircut Time

It was haircut time in our house, and all the boys got hair cuts.  And this was Adorable's FIRST haircut!

So I loved the Mohawk look for awhile, but really it was getting TOO long and straggly.  So it was time to even things out.  I think this is the youngest I've ever cut my kids hair.  (Gorgeous has not even had her first haircut yet!)

Daddy got to do the honors.  And, holding with tradition, I saved some of his baby hair in an envelope. (I have my baby hair, and I saved Handsome's baby hair as well)

And the end result.  OK, so really you can't tell in the picture, but in person it looks nice, and once again I like to spike his hair. :)

New Wool Hat

I am soooo a hat person.  Too bad they don't look good on me.  But when it comes to my kids, especially babies, I LOVE to put hats on them.  However, when Adorable got older he would take any hat off in less than 5 seconds.

I had started this wool hat in hopes of making it a Christmas present, but that didn't happen.  And by the time I finished it, I was worried that it would never be worn for more than a few seconds.  But happily, because of the tie I put on it, once it is tied he doesn't even try to take it off. :)  YEAH!  And of course this new hat is of the same wool yarn that I made his newborn hat and booties out of. :)  Happy memories.

Decorations

Our Christmas decorations are up and... well guarded.  With Adorable mobile and into anything he can reach, it was necessary to pull out the gate once again. :)

I laugh at this picture to see the ornaments as they are... yes, the kids did the decorating.  I handed them the ornaments and they choose where to put them.  Got to love kids decorating the tree (makes me remember growing up with our "snoopy parties" on our Christmas tree).

It has been so nice to have Christmas decorations out, and Christmas music playing all day.  What a special time of year!  And once again, I have been busy making Christmas presents.

Adorable: Growing and Moving

My Little 7 (almost 8) month baby boy is just so ADORABLE!

I love, love, love, this phase of life.  He is learning, growing, and starting to show some personality.  He is very much a "Mamma's Boy" as he now follows me all around the house crawling.  If he is not in my arms he is either crawling on the floor to get to me, or being distracted by his big brother and big sister.

He is already in 12 month size clothes.

He has started babbling "mamamama."  I LOVE this!

He is also my little thrill seeker.  He loves it when he is thrown in the air.  And he LOVES it when you scare him.  I really mean it!  If you startle him and say "boo" he laughs and laughs and laughs.  It looks like I'm being mean, but he laughs so hard I can't help but sneak up behind him and lightly grab him as I say "boo."

He crawls, but it is not a "normal" crawl but a wiggle worm crawl.  He gets up on his knees, wiggles back and forth, and then goes forward onto his belly.  Then back on his hands and knees to repeat the process.  He has tried the "traditional" crawl, but is much slower, so quickly goes back to the "wiggle worm" crawl.

And now my little Adorable is starting to pull himself up onto everything!

It started as he pulled himself over our legs, then onto low boxes, where he would topple off, or cry because he would feel stuck.  But if he fell off or we got him off, he would go right back on.  Then he started pulling himself up to his knees on toys and such.

Next he would pull himself up to a stand on our occasional table.  This scared/still scares me as I feel like I have to be close by because of the corners.  Yet, if I pull him down so I can leave to room to do something, he is right back up there.

Then I laughed as he pulled himself up to the rocking horse and would wobble back and forth as the horse rocked.

And then one day I went in to get him from a nap, and found this!  he had pulled himself up in his crib!  So now the crib bed has been lowered so I can sleep peacefully at night.

I just can't believe all he is doing.  If I remember correctly my other two were just crawling (maybe still an army crawl at this age).

My little baby is growing up!

Trunk-or-Treat

I LOVE the Trunk-or-Treat tradition that our church has each year.  All three wards gather together one night, usually different from Halloween night, and all the kids go from car to car of people they know from church.  This year it was at 6pm.  Perfect time for our family!

My little monkey.  I actually couldn't help but call him a "chunky monkey" since there was so much padding around the tummy on the costume. :)

Gorgeous decided to go as a BYU cheerleader instead of the planned Rapunzel, only an hour before leaving.  But she got LOTS of comments about her costume and more than a few times people gave her a second handful of candy saying things like "Go BYU!"

Handsome said he wanted to be Larry Boy or Diego.  Since I had on hand things to make him like Diego and nothing I could think of that would work as Larry Boy, he became Diego!

This Just In.....

Adorable is now sporting not one, but two new teeth!  Yes, his first teeth and two at the same time.  So this explains the multiple wake up calls in the middle of the night.

Adorable's First Solids

So today was the day that Adorable got to try his first solids.  Yes, we started him on rice cereal.  I had waited a little longer to start Gorgeous and really gave her very few mashed foods, she went straight to Cheerios, etc.  But Adorable was starting to watch us eat and looked very interested, plus I thought it might help him sleep better through the night (cross fingers) so here we go!

I have discovered that it is so much fun to have older kids with a baby.  They thoroughly enjoy each step along with me.  Handsome wanted so badly to feed Adorable, so I let him.  I got the following set of pictures from it.

Adorable LOVES it! (see the I Love You sign he is making :)

So his morning meal was just a few bites and he was done.  Then lunch came and I had him try it again.  That time Adorable chowed down.  I ended up making 5 bowls (OK, so they were small bowls, but still 5 times!?!)  He loved the food.

The other two really didn't eat much of the baby cereals, but Adorable is eating tons.  I am even lazy and don't bother to mix it with "mommy milk."  I just mix it with warm water.  As I started to compare, I realized that Adorable is much bigger than the other two were at this age, plus he is already crawling everywhere, when the other two were not.  So it seems he was ready for more food.  He ate 2 more bowls at dinner tonight.  Now let's just cross our fingers and hope it helps him sleep through the night!

Look Who Learned to Crawl!

It's offical.  This week Adorable has learned to crawl.  The floor is no longer a safe place!

6 MONTHS!

I have to take a break from our vacation blogging to celebrate my now 6 month old little boy.  I can't believe it has gone by so fast.  He is such a good baby and just so happy.  He loves to be around people and loves to be moving.  He has now, for the past month or so, been getting up on his hands and knees, getting ready to move.  I wonder how much more time I have before I have to start baby proofing?

Getting ready to move...

Another favoite of his.... his socks. :)

  Here is Adorable in action.

Adorable at Five Months Old

My little Adorable is now 5 months, and he is growing fast.  He is moving out of 9 month clothes and into the 12 month range!  I have to say he is my best baby.  I don't know how much of it is me feeling confident and knowing what to expect, or just his wonderful personality.  He is very patient and calm.

He is rolling over now, not crossing distances, but is everywhere on the blanket I place him on.  He loves to do what we call "flying" he spreads his arms and legs straight out and only has his stomach touching the ground. :)

He has also recently started to get on his hands and knees and wiggle back and forth, then he will either fall forward or backwards and repeat the process.  Most of the time I find that he went backwards under a chair and upset not knowing how he got stuck there.

Sleeping?

My children move so much in their sleep, it is hilarious!  I went in one night to check on them before I went to sleep and this is what I found.  Handsome to the left and Gorgeous to the right, neither of them on the bed!

Sometimes in the night Handsome even knocks the baby monitor down from the dresser, and continues to bump into it, all while sleeping.

Then another night I went in to find Adorable like this.  I think he will follow in the same family trait. :)  At least for now he has bars to keep him in.

precious moments to remember

The best thing; to lay in bed next to Adorable early in the morning and listen as he quietly babbles to me.  I can only imagine what he is trying to tell me.
