Father's Day Poems

I checked out a few books on Father's day from the library, and am really enjoying one.  The name, "Holidays, Festival, and Celebrations: Father's Day" by Ann Heinrichs.  In it there are two poems that I LOVE.  I thought I would share them here.

Daddy’s Footsteps

“Walk a little slower, Daddy,”

Said a little child so small.

“I’m following in your footsteps,

And I don’t want to fall.

“Sometimes your steps are very fast,

Sometimes they’re hard to see;

So walk a little slower, Daddy,

For you are leading me.

“Someday when I’m all grown up,

You’re what I want to be;

Then I will have a little child

Who’ll want to follow me.

“And I would want to lead just right,

And know that I was true;

So walk a little slower, Daddy,

For I must follow you!”

Walking with Grandpa

I like to walk with Grandpa,

His steps are short like mine.

He doesn’t say, “Now hurry up!”

He always takes his time.

I like to walk with Grandpa,

His eyes see things like mine do—

Wee pebbles bright, a funny cloud,

Half hidden drops of dew.

Most people have to hurry,

They do not stop and see.

I’m glad that God made Grandpa

Unrushed and young like me.

Adorable- On Top of the World

Ok, so he's not on top of the world... but it seems he wants to be, and will be there soon.  This little boy is sure keeping me on my toes.  He has learned the skill of climbing.  Not only how to climb but how to push chairs to the spot he needs to get up on it and then climb.  He has gotten to the second step of the bunk bed ladder, soon I'll have to take it down when not in use.  He can climb on chairs, and then get on the kitchen table (he is very proud of this one).   He also likes to climb on the couch and then get onto the desk behind the couch.  Gates are going up all over the place and books keep having to be moved.  Currently the reading books have to be kept on top of the piano, but the piano bench MUST be pushed all the way in, or he will use the bench to get on top of the piano!  He is also a book lover.  Good you say?... well, yes if it wasn't the TASTE of books he loved.  He cries for books only to put those board books in his mouth and literally eat them!?!  My older two were not this mobile or into things as Adorable is.  I love him to pieces, he is so darn cute... but boy do I have to know where he is every second!

And I have to add, that "smile face" he is making is the first face he makes when he sees me taking a picture of him.  He is such a ham... :)  I love this little boy!

School: Timeline

For School Handsome had fun creating a timeline about his life.  I printed out pictures of special times and events and Handsome labeled and dated them.  It was a fun project.  We also added future events that Handsome is looking forward to, such as baptism, receiving the priesthood, a mission, and a temple marriage.  What a fun way to remember the past, and look forward to the future.

Talent Show

Just have to say how proud I am of the kids.  Gorgeous recited two scriptures at the ward Talent show on Saturday.  She did great!  Handsome, accompanied by Gorgeous did a dance to the Piano Guys Cello Wars.  Handsome had such fun doing cartwheels and just "cool moves".  Handsome also displayed some Lego creations and paper airplanes that he made.  It's great to see how outgoing our kids are despite their reserved parents. :)

Artwork

The latest in my kids art.  Love the pictures they are drawing. :)

Handsome's picture of the temple, drawn during sacrament meeting.  I love the angel Moroni on top.
(Sorry can't seem to get it turned the right way)

Can you guess who this guy is?  Handsome also drew this during sacrament meeting.
